In light of the global pandemic, we are cautiously proceeding, allowing only a small number of participants at each event. We will need your cooperation in only signing up for events you can truly commit to attending. If you miss out on registering please get yourself registered on the waitlist. We also ask for everyone's cooperation and patience as we all adjust! Please see our policy and safety practices here.

DEADLINE TO REGISTER: BY MIDNIGHT, 8 DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT (JULY 30).

PRE-TRIP MEETING (MANDATORY): FRIDAY, JULY 31 @ 6:30 PM (Location TBA - will be in Winnipeg)

Nutimik is a front-country campground in the heart of the Whiteshell. This will be our home base while we explore nearby hiking trails, lakes, and beaches. In addition, Friday and Saturday evening will include our popular Fireside Chats (informal yet structured and unique learning opportunity) and Sunday morning will include an optional early morning nature-inspired guided journaling walk. This trip will proceed rain or shine unless deemed unsafe; plans will be adjusted accordingly in the case of bad weather. Full details will be provided to registered attendees.

Event leader: Christina Hiebert Click for more information!

Participants will need to bring appropriate camping and day hiking gear. A list will be provided upon registering so that you can adequately prepare. (Please check the details in your registration confirmation email!) Gear will be reviewed together during our pre-trip meeting. Please be prepared to rent, purchase or borrow any items needed for this trip if you do not have.

What the registration fee includes: campground accommodations for 2 nights including firewood and event / activity planning
Costs not included: optional equipment rentals, gas, park entry/passes, additional group-planned activities, meals, other misc expenses

Mandatory pre-trip meeting: July 31 for getting ourselves organized and prepared as a group. An agenda will be emailed to participants.

What to expect:

  • To assist with physical distancing, 6 participants will be spread between 3 camp sites, all next to each other. Smaller tents are ideal so that we can remain physically distanced at camp.
  • Day hiking will include easy to intermediate level hikes at a slow to moderate pace.
  • Each day (Saturday and Sunday) will have 1-2 planned activities as well as optional activities that we can plan as a group during our meeting.

Overall Difficulty Rating: due to the factors mentioned above, this activity is rated a 2/5This rating is subject to change based on prevailing conditions at the time of the activity, including but not limited to weather.

Please leave pets at home.

Further details will be provided to registered participants. Participants are responsible for having a valid e-mail address, communicating with the event organizer regarding any changes in attendance, and for checking e-mails prior to an event.

This event allows cancellation no less than 8 days before start of event. If you are no longer able to attend, please see our No Show Policy.
