DEADLINE TO REGISTER: BY MIDNIGHT, TWO DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT (JUNE 14)

We are proceeding (very cautiously!) with certain events going forward. In order to make this work, we will be allowing a small number of participants at each event. We will need your cooperation in only signing up for events you can truly commit to attending. If you miss out on registering please get yourself registered on the waitlist. We also ask for everyone's cooperation and patience as we all adjust! Please see our policy and safety practices here.

Happy Trails Hikes are about movement, connection and getting out on the trails in or around Winnipeg during the week. This series of hikes, happening select Tuesday evenings until December, is open to all levels and designed to connect us with others. Some hikes will have a theme and others are just an opportunity to get active outdoors while connecting with like-minded women from the Backcountry Women community.

Event leader: Jessica Burtnick, accompanied by Reggie the Siberian husky.  Click for more information!

There will be a dog accompanying this hike. If you don’t have a dog or puppy friend of your own, this is a great opportunity to experience the joy and benefits of an animal companion! If you are uncomfortable around or allergic to dogs, we highly recommend you check out one of our other Happy Trails Hikes as this hike may not be the right fit for you.

Arrival Time: 6:45 PM. We will begin the hike no later than 7:15 PM. The time arranged allows for you to have time to attend to personal needs such as organizing your gear and for the event leader to share information with the group.

LocationWe will meet at the Cedar Bog Trail in Birds Hill Provincial Park. A Manitoba Parks pass is required; a reminder that it must be purchased online this year.

Overall Difficulty Rating: Due to the factors mentioned below, this activity is rated a 1/5.

Duration/Distance: Approximately 3.5 km. This trail takes about 1 hour to complete.
Experience: Beginner friendly. You should have the ability to walk with the group (while physically distancing) at a moderate, steady pace for the duration of the activity. Appropriate footwear and layered clothing is required.
Terrain: This trail passes through a flat, forested area however it can be wet or muddy in some areas.
Pace: This activity will be at a steady, moderate pace.

This hike permits a limited number of registered participants to bring their well-behaved dogs, on a first-come-first-served basis. If you want to bring your dog, please select the “Member Registration with Dog” option at time of registration; you will be required to check-in with the event leader once registered, prior to the event. For more info on dogs at our events, please read our FAQ page.

Further details will be provided to registered participants. Participants are responsible for having a valid e-mail address, communicating with the event organizer regarding any changes in attendance, and for checking e-mail prior to an event.

This event allows cancellation no less than 5 days before start of event. If you are no longer able to attend, please see our No Show Policy.
