DEADLINE TO REGISTER: BY MIDNIGHT, TWO DAYS BEFORE THE EVENT (DEC. 12)
I'ts a busy time of year, so we will stick closer to home and explore the beauty of the trails around Birds Hill Park. This Morning hike/snowshoe (snow dependent) will allow you a bit of a Nature Break from the hustle and bustle of the Holiday season, but we will be finished in plenty of time for you to get back to your Holiday prep or parties!
This activity will be beginner friendly but at a moderate pace with an approximate hiking distance of 6.5km. It will take us between 1.5-2 hours to hike, with the option to extend the hike further.
If the snow conditions are right, you have the option of bringing your snowshoes to use.
We will be exploring the Lakeside Trail, the Campground, Pine Ridge Trail and a bit of off trail hiking as well. We will have a break and a chance to explore the old Pine Ridge Homestead.
Reach out to the coordinator if you would like to bring your dog. We will be in touch after registration closes and let you know if your dog can join (this is dependent on all participants being comfortable with a dog in the group). Please note that dogs must remain on leash during the event and waste packed off the trail.
Arrival Time: by 9 AM. We will depart to begin our hike by 9:30 AM at the latest.
Location: We will meet at the West Beach Parking lot in Birds Hill Park (park pass is required)
Duration: Approximately 2 hours, 6.5 kms. There will be an option to extend it further for those who wish.
Difficulty: Beginner-friendly, but at a moderate pace
