Regarding COVID-19: Due to the numbers placed on gathering restrictions, we need your cooperation in only signing up for events that you can truly commit to attending. 

Masks are mandatory when gathering at the beginning and end of our events. Additionally, we recommend masks be worn during the activity (but are not required as long as physical distance is being maintained) - if group members are closer than 6 feet apart they MUST wear a mask covering their mouth and nose. Please review our full Covid-19 policy and safety practices here.

Join us for a Backcountry Women "Adventure Women" hike at Duck Mountain Provincial Park!

Arrival Time: Arrive by 11 AM. We will begin the hike no later than 11:15 AM. The time arranged allows for you to attend to personal needs such as organizing your gear and for leaders to share information with the group. 


Location: Blue Lakes Trail with an additional adventure on the Shining Stone trail. These trails share a trailhead in the Blue Lakes campground area in Duck Mountain Provincial Park. valid Manitoba Parks pass is required and can be purchased online.


PLEASE NOTE: This provincial park is an approximate 5-hour drive from Winnipeg. There are multiple campgrounds and other lodging options in the park to check out if you are interested in including this as a part of your own weekend adventure!


Backcountry Women acknowledges that this hike will take place on Treaty 2 Territory.

Overall Difficulty Rating: due to the factors mentioned below, this activity is rated a 3/5.

This rating is subject to change based on prevailing conditions at the time of the activity, including but not limited to weather.

Duration/Distance: 6 KM 
Experience: This event is open to participants with an average level of fitness who have some hiking experience. You must have the ability to walk with the group at a moderate pace for the duration of the activity and come to the activity with appropriate footwear, gear and outerwear.

Terrain: The trail hugs the shores of East Blue Lake and West Blue Lake. The trail includes mixed terrain with some gentle hills and some root filled and rocky uneven areas with some steeper segments.

Pace: Moderate with a break for a lunch and additional stops for water as needed. 

Please keep dogs at home.
