PRE-TRIP MEETING (MANDATORY): August 30th, 2022 @ 7:00 PM (St. Vital Park)

PLEASE READ THE REQUIREMENTS AND ALL DETAILS BELOW PRIOR TO REGISTRATION

Join us in Spruce Woods for a fun weekend away together including hiking and exploring! Using our front country group campsite at Kiche Manitou Campground Campground as our home base, we'll be doing some hiking of intermediate level trails such as Spirit Sands/Devil's Punch Bowl, Yellowquill Trails and/or Epinette. Further details will be discussed and decided at our MANDATORY pre-trip meeting. This trip will proceed rain or shine; plans will be adjusted accordingly in the case of bad weather. We have booked a spot near an outdoor shelter. Full details will be provided to registered attendees.

Event leaders: Lara Stregger and Maggie Wen. Please contact with any questions!

Participants will need to bring appropriate camping and day hiking gear. To ensure an enjoyable and safe experience for all, equipment should have been tested previously to withstand poor weather conditions such as wind and rain. You must have previous camping experience, as well as the ability to complete the hiking trails included in this trip. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out prior to registering!

A suggested gear and packing list will be provided upon registering so that you can adequately prepare for this weekend. (Please check the details in your registration confirmation email!) Gear and other details will be reviewed and coordinated together during our pre-trip meeting. Please be prepared to rent, purchase or borrow any items needed for this trip if you do not have.

Costs not included in registration fees: optional equipment rentals, gas, provincial park passes, additional group-planned activities, shared cost of firewood, meals, other misc. / personal expenses.

MANDATORY Pre-Trip Meeting: August 30th, 2022 @ 7:00 PM (St. Vital Park). An email will be sent to participants 1 week prior to our meeting with further details.

IMPORTANT NOTE - These trips are a true team effort and are offered to individuals who are team players. You MUST attend the mandatory pre trip meeting with no exceptions. This is required since it is where leaders and participants come together to finalize all plans and details to make this trip possible. Everyone's participation makes these trips a success! Please review the pre trip meeting date to ensure you can attend prior to registering.

If you do not end up attending this pre trip meeting, you forfeit your registered spot and there will be no credit or refund available to you.

Reach out if you are interested in bringing your dog. Please review dog policy here.

What to expect:

  • Camping in front country group campsite at the Kiche Manitou Campground. **Small tents preferred**
  • Day hiking will include intermediate level hikes (approximately 10-15 km) at a moderate pace. You should have enough experience and fitness to be able to comfortably join an intermediate level challenging hike where we may be facing a variety of conditions and varied terrain for extended distances.
  • Each day (Saturday and Sunday) will have a main group activity planned as well as optional activities that we'll plan as a group during our meeting. There won't be a planned activity for Friday evening as this time will be reserved for setting up camp and enjoying a relaxing evening.

Overall Average Difficulty Rating: due to the factors mentioned above, this activity is rated a 4/5.

Further details will be provided to registered participants. Participants are responsible for having a valid e-mail address, communicating with the event organizer regarding any changes in attendance, and for checking e-mails prior to an event.

Regarding Covid-19: Please review our full Covid-19 policy and safety practices here.
